IRON MOUNTAIN -- One person remains hospitalized after a weekend crash in Dickinson County.

The crash took place Sunday evening around 7 p.m. on Byers Road in Sagola Township, according to Michigan State Police.

It appears that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road, and hit a utility pole.

The driver was taken to Dickinson County Hospital and later transferred to Marquette General Hospital.  A passenger sought their own treatment.

At this time, the condition and name of the driver have not been released pending further investigation.

Michigan State Police note that it appears speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Michigan State Police in Iron Mountain at (906) 774-2122.
