ESCANABA -- The former Delta County Corrections Officer facing child pornography charges will spend the next few months behind bars.
On Wednesday, 35-year-old William Johnson was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation.
Johnson pleaded guilty to attempted possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.
The prosecution says Johnson possessed numerous inappropriate photos of children on his home computer.
However, the defense says they were not graphic. Johnson was also sentenced to an additional thirty days in jail, for the computer charge.
Despite the defense's request, they'll be served concurrently.
"If you commit a crime, then that's the sentence you're going to get," said Judge Stephen Davis of Delta County Circuit Court. "If you use a computer to commit a crime, we're going to enhance it, you run the risk of having additional punishments on top of that."
Johnson did apologize for his actions, and he'll be credited for ninety days already spent in jail.
