Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Power out until Friday in some locations

UPPER PENINSULA -- The Upper Peninsula Power Company has updated the severity of this storm in relation to their customers.
    
They currently have 6,400 electric customers without power, and no word on when the electricity will be restored.

The number of customers without power include:  Escanaba - 558, Houghton - 2,959, Iron River- 260, Ishpeming - 2,093, and Munising -  577.
    
In addition, UPPCO has informed the emergency operations center in Delta County that some of the power problems may not be resolved until Friday.
    
Crews continue to struggle to keep roads open and will clean up the debris as winds subside.
