MARQUETTE -- Elegant ball gowns and tuxedos were put on Saturday evening and all for a good cause.
The Marquette General Health System hosted their Third Annual Foundation Gala at the UpFront. This year's theme was 'Celebrating our Champions' and honored the founding fathers of Marquette medicine.
Doctors Charles Wright, Dan Mazzuchi, and John English were recognized for their hard work in bringing health care to the U.P. But the evening's event was also a fund-raiser.
A silent auction was held to raise money to purchase a much needed, newer, Linear Accelerator.
"The U.P., when we first got the Linear Accelerator, had a Cadillac, a top of the line, but that was 16 years ago, and it's time now to replace the machine that gives great care," said Foundation President, Patrick Bray.
Organizers hoped to raise $75,000 at the gala. They still need 1.5 million dollars for the Accelerator.
