Bond increased
MARQUETTE -- An Indiana man facing two counts of criminal sexual conduct was taken into custody in Marquette County District Court Monday.
Twenty-five-year-old Aaron Gregory Kiefer is charged with allegedly sexually assaulting two girls, ages 12 and 13, in Marquette in 2002.
After both girls testified, the case was moved to Circuit Court, and Kiefer's bond was increased from its reduced rate of $5,000 to $75,000.
"The possibility for penalty with the possible sanctions are a lot higher now so I felt the bond needed to be increased, so that's why I asked the judge to do that," said Assistant Prosecutor, Matt Wiese.
Kiefer is being held in the Marquette County Jail.
Kiefer faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. He's due back in Circuit Court for arraignment on October 29.
