Justice Alton Davis in the U.P.
MARQUETTE -- Newly appointed Michigan Supreme Court Justice Alton Davis stopped by the Landmark Inn in Marquette Monday to campaign for his re-election.
Davis was appointed to replace Justice Elizabeth Weaver by Governor Granholm in August.
He currently holds the position of Appeals Court Judge. Davis says he's hoping to carry on the tradition of having a northern Michigan representative on the court.
"There are large differences from region to region in how you look at things and how things are done--one size doesn't fit all," said Davis. "I think it's important to have a northern Michigan voice on the Supreme Court."
Marquette was Justice Davis' final stop in his U.P. tour. He's one of two incumbents running for the two seats, the other being Justice Bob Young.
