NEGAUNEE -- Six Lakeview Elementary students got the Negaunee Fire hall's VIP treatment Monday morning.

Out of 600 entries, firefighters had to choose only six winners for their poster contest, a decision they called "very difficult."  One student from each grade was selected as a first place winner.  Their prize was a ride to school on a Negaunee City or Negaunee Township fire truck.

"When I woke up, I was so excited," says contest winner Adriana Gustafson.  "I just was jumping off the walls."

"You would feel so important because they'd have the lights flashing and everybody would be moving out of your way," says another contest winner, Breanna Johnson.

The contest was part of National Fire Prevention Week.  Winners also received a t-shirt.

The winning posters are currently on display in Lakeview Elementary School.
