FORSYTH TOWNSHIP -- A house fire can be frightening enough for a child, but it can make matters worse if they don't recognize the firefighters there to rescue them. That's why the Forsyth Township Fire Department held a fire truck ride Wednesday.
In addition to rides, the kids were able to play with horns and lights as well as tour EMS vehicles.
It's part of Fire Prevention Week, which is designed to educate and familiarize children with emergency services.
"Let them know that we're there for the kids if they're trapped in the house; we're there to help them get out and don't be afraid of us. That's the whole reason for Fire Prevention Week," said Forsyth Township Fire Chief, Larry Hammond.
The firefighters also traveled to area schools to show children what they look like in full firefighting gear.
