ATVs to teach young riders
HOUGHTON COUNTY -- About 135,000 people are sent to hospitals following ATV accidents each year.
It's an alarming statistic the MITRALE system took notice of and asked the community for help in educating youth on ATV safety.
Polaris Industries answered that call and donated two child safety ATVs to the group. They each cost about $2500.
"Safety is a huge part of the sport, and for Polaris to be able to help out with organizations to provide proper safety training for young riders to learn correctly as they start is a very good feeling," said Polaris Health and Safety Director, Ron Rockis.
A wristband connected to the vehicle will shut it down if it is disconnected.
An easy access emergency brake and a full floorboard make this vehicle ideal for safety training. Their size and weight also make it possible for kids to escape from crash situations.
