A mechanical problem is believed to be the reason the car caught on fire
IRON MOUNTAIN -- A mechanical problem is believed to be the reason a car caught on fire early Tuesday morning at Dickinson County Healthcare System.
The Iron Mountain Fire Department says they were called out at 6:16 central time Tuesday morning.
In the rear lot where the employees park, they found the car with a fire involved under the hood. The owner said she had smelled gas, and when she pulled into the parking lot, heard a loud pop. She ran inside and called for help immediately.
There's extensive damage under the hood, and the blaze was making its way to the interior.
The owner also told firefighters that the car had recently been worked on to correct a gas leak.
No injuries were reported.
