HOUGHTON -- Ninety trees were planted last spring, and Friday, Michigan Tech friends and family held an official dedication ceremony on the east end of campus.
The memorial grove stretches from the Michigan Tech sign to the Rozsa Center and includes 90 trees that were planted last spring to replace others removed during construction along US-41.
"We think it's very special," said organizer Dan Lorenzetti. "There are so many nationalities involved in this memorial grove project. It's a true testament to the melting pot that the Copper Country really is."
So far 89 of the 90 trees have been purchased as a memorial.
The site also includes a map featuring the names of everyone memorialized by a tree.
