Forest Roberts Theater opens up season with French farce

MARQUETTE -- It's a classic French farce about a married man who is suspected of cheating on his wife.

The wife writes a letter to catch her husband in the act, but it ends up in the wrong hands.  Along the way, there's plenty of laughs to be had by the audience.  While the play itself has an adult theme, actors say it can be enjoyed by anyone.

"Really anyone.  A young audience is probably not going to get a lot of what's going on, but that's probably a good thing.  But they're going to have fun just watching everyone enter and exit.  And there's a lot of quirky characters in the show that are going to entertain everyone," describes Jeremy Kucharek, who plays Victor Emmanuel and Poche.

And it'll be easy to stay entertained with the fast pace of the show itself.

"It's interesting.  There's a lot going on, but it's a very clear line of action and everything.  It's fairly easy to follow, but at the same time, just crazy, hectic everything, so it's a good time," says Elizabeth Stahl, who plays Lucienne.

With such a wide range of characters on the roster, the actors have had a lot of fun portraying their part.  For one actor, who has two roles, it's been a challenge to keep them straight.

"They're completely different.  One is sort of this usually even tempered guy who things usually go totally well and right for, and his world gets flipped upside down, so that's fun to play with because reality changes for him and he gets to react to that," Kucharek says.

You can catch "A Flea in Her Ear" beginning on Wednesday, October 6 and running until October 9.  It'll also have a special Saturday matinee at the Forest Roberts Theatre.
