Ten year tradition wraps up
CHAMPION -- Some may say camping season is over, but at Van Riper State Park, there's still one more weekend to go. This is the last weekend of Harvest Fest.
It was started 10 years ago by some campers from down state and has since grown from year to year.
The festival takes place the last three weekends in September and feature various activities such as hayrides, face painting, and scary stories.
For most of the festival's children, the trick or treating is the highlight of the event.
"It's a great idea; the kids don't have to walk very far, the weather's a lot nicer than it tends to be in October, they're not wearing their snow boots, they're just walking quickly through campsite to campsite and just having a blast," said Park Supervisor Doug Berry.
Harvest Fest wraps up this Sunday.
