Unemployment down in August

Jobless figures announced

UPPER MICHIGAN -- Unemployment figures for the month of August were released Thursday.

The seasonally unadjusted jobless rate in Upper Michigan was 11.3 percent last month. That's down from 12,5 percent in July.

Mackinac County had the state's lowest jobless rate among Michigan counties at 5.6 percent.

Baraga County had the highest rate in the state at 22 percent.
