Marquette hosts flu clinics
MICHIGAMME -- Thursday is actually the first official day of flu season, and the Marquette County Health Department is ready. Starting Thursday, they'll be going into the community and setting up flu shot clinics to make it easier to get vaccinated.
They were giving shots at the Community Center in Michigamme Thursday.
The new 2010-2011 vaccine protects against Swine Flu and the regular flu so you won't need an extra shot like you did last year. All you need to do is show up, fill out a vaccination form, and get your shot.
Corrine Brownell from the health department explains why it's so important that everyone get their shot.
"The flu virus can be a deadly virus; it can be widely spread and easily contracted so the main reason you want to do it is because you want to stop people from getting sick and dying," said Brownell.
