Quarrel over the quarry
PORTAGE TOWNSHIP -- The quarrel between Portage Township residents and the Moyle Sand and Gravel company over the Valley View Quarry Site is going to court.
Loud noise and noxious dust are two of the reasons three Portage Township landowners filed a nuisance lawsuit with the Houghton County Circuit Court earlier this week.
Moyle is named as defendant in the case.
And now another lawsuit has been filed against Moyle--this one by the Township.
The lawsuits allege that Moyle is breaking the law by operating the gravel pit in an area zoned rural-residential.
