Out to Lunch in Iron Mountain
IRON MOUNTAIN -- It's become a summer tradition in Iron Mountain, and now the city has the numbers to prove it.
This year's Out to Lunch program attracted between 300 and 500 people to the weekly event.
Out to Lunch is put on by the Downtown Development Authority and local business owners to entice people to shop locally. Every Thursday this summer, residents came to the free event to relax, listen to live music, and eat lunch.
"It has to be all right because we keep hearing about it or people will stop me in the grocery store and say, 'Oh we really enjoyed the Out to Lunch programs. Don't stop them,' and we've just been very fortunate that people have enjoyed the entertainment and that we've had good vendors," said program organizer Margaret Johnson.
The program is done for the summer, but Johnson expects its popularity to continue to grow next year.
