MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- The tough economic times have caused more and more car manufacturers to cut incentives, but one local dealer says that's not the case.
The Associated Press is reporting that the days of special car deals and promotions are over.
This past July, auto makers offered $1,000 less in incentives per car than last July.
Since it's not looking like there will be another federally-funded program like cash for clunkers, don't expect the same discounts when you buy your next car.
Jim Grundstrom of Frei Chevy says incentives aren't being cut, they're just a little less than what they used to be.
"We are moving in the marketplace as an industry, making sure our cars travel off our parking lot at a fast and torrid pace," said Grundstrom. "The reality is if you take an incentive that was 6,000 and make it 5,000, point in fact, the incentive has gone down."
The reports also say that the cut in incentives has impacted sales. This past August's sales were 11 percent less than last August.
