CHRISTMAS -- This month marks the one year business anniversary of the White Pine Lodge in Christmas, and the lodge is celebrating by giving back to the community that made them successful.

A barbeque was held Saturday where prizes were raffled off to benefit the Alger County Humane Society.

Donations were also accepted, but not required.  Still community members showed up to donate an average of about $10 a person.

"We welcome the community to say thank you to them, and why not make it a benefit to somebody else, a non-profit organization in the community," said lodge manager Melinda Strand.

The barbeque raised more than $150 for the Alger County Humane Society.
