It helps musicians who may be traveling through the area
CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- There was music in the air in Chocolay Township Wednesday night. It's called a House Concert, and it helps musicians who may be traveling through the area.
The idea is that houses in the Marquette area open themselves to bands and musicians by providing them a place to play and usually a meal and a place to stay.
The concert, Wednesday, was the first in what organizers hope will be a long line of performances by various acts.
"It turns out to be a good stopping point for bands and musicians that are traveling--give them a place to stay, a meal to eat, a place to play, make some money--and also brings music to the community as an alternative venue," said organizer, Jen Copeman.
There is a network of houses open to musicians throughout the country. You can to to www.houseconcerts.com for more information.
