Great Lakes Timber Show has acts for all ages
ESCANABA -- Lumberjacks and logging have helped to shape much of the U.P.'s history. And there was plenty of logging fun at the U.P. State Fair Wednesday in Escanaba.
The Great Lakes Timber Show had a performance Wednesday afternoon featuring chainsaw carving, axe throwing, log rolling, and much more. The show is held each year at the fair and is known for being humorous and educational.
"We tell them a little bit about the history of logging with the crosscut saws and also a little bit about the river drives and how they used to float logs down the streams to the sawmills," explains performer Bruce Belanger.
You can catch the timber show each day at the U.P. State Fair through this Sunday.
