Prader-Willi Syndrome awareness

BARK RIVER -- The high octane action is underway again at the Off Road Races in Bark River.  However, this time around, some racers are racing for a cause.

This weekend the entire Super Stock Truck Class is teaming up to spread awareness of Prader-Willi Syndrome.

Scott Beauchamp is one of the drivers, and his youngest son, Luke, was diagnosed with the syndrome shortly after birth.  The syndrome affects appetite, growth, metabolism, cognitive function, and behavior.

All racers in Beauchamp's class will be sporting a hood to spread awareness.

"We're just trying to make people aware of the Prader-Willi Association," said Beauchamp.  "I mean they make great strides to help out kids with this syndrome, and so I mean anything we can do as racers to help out and make people aware of the cause is helpful."

The official races kick off Saturday at 11 a.m.

Luke's family will also be selling t-shirts to help raise money for the cause.
