If you are racing, your bike should be checked
MARQUETTE -- More than 2,000 mountain bikes could be hitting Marquette area trails this weekend for the annual Ore to Shore Epic.
Down Wind Sports reminds competitors to check your bikes before the race. A last minute tune-up could make a big difference in both your bike's performance and its safety.
Down Wind charges about $40 for the service and will also be offering emergency bike service along the trail.
"On the trail, we're actually going to have people out there that'll be there to kind of give a hand and help fix things that go wrong on the trail, but that's going to be mainly, like, flat tires and smaller things. Adjusting shifting, adjusting brakes is something that we kind of need to throw the bike in the stand and do the work," explained Nick Dobbs from Down Wind.
If you need a tune-up, Down Wind suggests that you get your bike to them as soon as you can. The day before the race, their service department is typically extremely busy.
