MOUNT CLEMENS -- Detroit area authorities say as many as seven teens beat a blind man with his own cane and robbed him of $600.

Police said the man was walking on North River Road near the Gibraltar Trade Center about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was attacked by the male suspects believed to include 17 and 18 year olds and one juvenile.  The suspects fled after the assault.

Macomb County Sheriff Capt. Brenda Baker tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens the victim was treated at the scene and later taken to a hospital.  His condition was not immediately known.

Police have taken four people into custody for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

An investigation continues.
