LITTLE LAKE -- The Superior String Alliance kicked off its 24th Annual Advanced String Camp at Little Lake's Page Center Sunday.

The program is designed to help students in grades 5-12 prepare for their high school ensembles and competitions.

For the next five days, students will practice orchestra ensemble skills, chamber music, and have private lessons.

"There's a lot of one-on-one time," says music director Reid Smith.  "For instance there's four music teachers for 23 kids, as well as counseling staff, that are in college playing music.  At any given time, there's seven musicians and 23 kids."

The program will wrap up Friday with a free 7 p.m. concert at Newpage in Little Lake.

For those who want to register for next year's program, they can inquire at their local high school.
