MARQUETTE -- Construction of the new Tourist Park dam is on hold right now.  Work was to get underway August 1, but issues with permits have delayed the project.

The Marquette Board of Light and Power wants to rebuild the dam that was washed out in the 2003 Dead River flood.

Kirby Juntila with the BL&P says he's disappointed in the delay.  He says the wetlands permit and the issue of fish passage around the dam are being reviewed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Juntila hopes to have the permits all ironed out this fall so they can start the earthen work.

The concrete construction of the dam would be pushed to next year.
