Suspects have been detained, but not yet identified
MACKINAC ISLAND -- Three men are jailed in Mackinac County Tuesday morning after an alleged armed robbery around 2:30 a.m. on the island.
According to the Michigan State Police, a trooper on foot patrol heard screaming from an apartment and saw three men running, with one carrying a bat. The trooper was able to detain two of the men.
With the help of the Mackinac Island Police, investigators learned that the men went to the apartment looking to recover money they say was owed to them.
The suspects said they did beat the victim and then took about $300 from the victim and his girlfriend. The third assailant was identified and arrested around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Charges of armed robbery and first degree home invasion are pending; names are being withheld until arraignment.
