EAGLE HARBOR -- The Eagle Harbor Lighthouse Complex held the grand opening of a special exhibit Sunday--the work of the Copper Country's first photographer, J.W. Nara.

Nara documented the lives of those working in the Copper mines in the early 1890s, and with funding from Nara's family, an exhibit was created from photos stored in the Michigan Tech archives.
    
The display has been traveling throughout the U.P. since November.

"I think what people are going to see is they're going to see a collection of photos that talk about the lives that people lived here in the Copper Country in the 1890s, 1900s, early part of the century.   Some of that's going to be about mining because copper mining's such a central story here, but they're also going to learn about rural life," said Erik Nordberg from the Michigan Tech Archives.

The exhibit will remain at the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse until Labor Day, when it will move to the Ontonagon County Historical Society until the end of September.
