Trimmers picketed Wednesday morning outside DTE

DETROIT (AP) -- DTE Energy Co. is seeking help from other utilities outside Michigan as another major storm barrels into the state.

Vice President of Distribution Operations, Vince Dow, says Wednesday that a strike by tree trimmers against vendors contracted by the utility threatens to slow power restoration if outages occur.

Trimmers picketed Wednesday morning outside DTE service center locations.

Dow says trimmers assist lineman by cutting and removing branches and trees that have fallen onto power lines or in the way of restoration efforts.  Lineman may have to do some branch removals if trimmers are not available.

Dow says DTE has asked its vendors still to supply trimming services as part of their contractual obligations.
