IRON MOUNTAIN -- One of the hardest jobs for parents is keeping their children motivated to learn over the summer.  Now the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain is looking to help.

The week of June 14 is the kickoff of the library's summer reading program.  The five-week program is meant to motivate kids to continue learning and reading throughout the summer.

The library will also be providing entertainment and prizes to all kids who participate.

"We just want to provide programs and incentives to keep kids reading all summer long.  It's just really important because kids can lose up to two or three grade levels if they don't do anything over the summer between grade levels.  So we just provide really great programs," said Librarian Ginnie Adams.

Adams hopes kids will continue reading even after the program is over.

The library will continue providing incentives.
