Portraits donated to Haitian orphans
NORWAY -- As relief continues to pour into earthquake ravaged Haiti in the form of money and supplies, one local art class is giving Haitian orphans something irreplaceable.
Norway art students have drawn portraits of Haitian orphans and have sent them to the orphanages.
The memory project is meant to give children portraits of themselves which likely wouldn't be available to them.
Art teacher Shelly Danielson says the students were committed to the project from day one.
"For me as a teacher I guess to know that my kids have a heart for other people and not just about themselves. That is the best feeling because they're all really good artists. My students are excellent, but to know that they care about other people, that is the best payoff a teacher could ever have," said Danielson.
The portraits were sent out to the children last week.
