School fund-raiser is bigger than ever this year
L'ANSE -- It's going to be a big weekend in Baraga County with the 5th annual Lake Trout Festival, but the fun got started early Thursday morning with the Sacred Heart School's community rummage sale.
Dozens of people came out looking for various treasures among the items lining the hallways and in the classrooms.
Organizers say it's the third year they've held their sale in conjunction with the festival, and it's gotten bigger each time.
The fund-raiser typically brings in $3,000 for the school.
“With the unemployment so high in Baraga County, I think we help people out, too," says Principal Anne Schumer. "We’ve got good prices--it's only four dollars for a bag of clothes, any kind of clothes."
In addition to clothing, there are books, kitchen supplies, and much more.
The sale will be held again from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
