The northeast Lower Peninsula saw the highest April unemployment rate
LANSING (AP) -- New figures show seasonally unadjusted unemployment rates were lower in April in all 17 major Michigan labor markets.
The state said Thursday seasonal gains in building, retailing, leisure and hospitality services, and professional and business services caused the change.
The northeast Lower Peninsula saw the highest April unemployment rate at 17.2 percent, compared with March's 20.2 percent. The Ann Arbor area was lowest at 8.6 percent, compared with March's 9.6 percent.
Unemployment in the Detroit area was 14.8 percent, compared with March's 15.5 percent.
Michigan's seasonally unadjusted jobless rate was 13.7 percent in April, compared with March's 14.9 percent. Adjusting for seasonal changes, April's rate was 14 percent.
