MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Downtown Development Association's (DDA) mission is to provide a favorable business climate for downtown businesses.  Tuesday, they gave those who bring life to the city a chance to hear what's been happening.

The annual meeting is meant to inform business owners and residents how their money is being spent.

In the past year, the DDA has focused on improving and expanding downtown parking and updates on Main Street.  Next year they hope to improve Baraga Avenue, and the Bluff Street parking ramp needs one million dollars in restoration work.

"We want to insure that they know where their funding is going and that we're being prudent and also that we are on the right track of what our constituents want to see happen," said Mona Lang, DDA Executive Director.

The DDA is also excited about the Marquette Commons and Farmers Market, which has a record 48 vendors this year.

The market opens May 22.
