Show offers everything related to outdoor recreation
HARRIS -- It's a little empty now, but by Saturday morning, the conference room at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris will have an assortment of all things related to outdoor recreation.
"We've got a good seminar lineup," said organizer, Chuck Collins. "Both big lake walleye, salmon, trout; small lake and river bass and walleye."
For customers, it's a chance to save money; vendors often give discounts at sports and rec shows. For businesses, it's a chance to get their foot in the door.
Gale Force Tackle out of Ann Arbor started their custom tackle business last year. They're hoping to capture some Upper Peninsula buyers.
"There's millions of walleyes in the waters here," said owner, Roy Bishop, "and we think our product will help fishermen catch the fish."
And although they're based in Menominee, Cedar Creek Rustic Furniture, a 35-year-old business, has never done a sports show in the Upper Peninsula. They travel the country and are excited to finally stay close to home.
"There's a lot of people in the U.P. that buy our stuff or have a second home in the U.P.," said owner, Joseph Lapoint.
The sport show is free to the public. It runs Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
