It's the largest one-day food drive in the nation
The U.S. Postal Service is doing their part to "Stamp out Hunger".
On Saturday, letter carriers across the country will pick up bags of non-perishable donations from homes as they deliver mail along their postal routes. It's the largest one-day food drive in the nation, and carriers from the Marquette Post Office plan to participate.
"There's hungry people all the time, and this time of year, I guess the food banks are all pretty bare, so it, it's a good time for everybody to help out," said Larry Kuhn, letter carrier.
This is the 18th year for the food drive. Last year, the Marquette Post Office alone collected 11,000 pounds of food. Nationally, carriers collected a record 73 million pounds of food.
