The city was given a bronze award for being one of 16 bike-friendly communities in the nation
MARQUETTE -- Marquette cyclists know that the city is a great place to take a ride. But others are starting to recognize the bikeability of the community as well.
The city was given a bronze award for being one of 16 bike-friendly communities in the nation.
Marquette was named for its many trails in the community and its popular biking culture.
Many community members are hopeful the award will only mean good things for the city.
Officer Jackie Sweeney of the Marquette Bikeability Committee says, "Hopefully by winning this award, it will bring more people into our area which will help our economy. This will also help us with grant opportunities for the area."
This award arrives just in time for National Bike Month which runs through the month of May.
