When authorities arrived, the entire outside of the building was in flames

ESCANABA -- An Escanaba home is heavily damaged after an early morning fire.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, the blaze was reported at 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning on the 300 block of South 11th Street.

When authorities arrived, the entire outside of the building was in flames.

They quickly put the fire out.  Damage was kept to the exterior of the home; the inside has heavy smoke and water damage.

They say the cause is believed to be an ashtray which was set next to the building.
