MARQUETTE, MI -- Making people aware of the environment is the first step in living an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

That was the goal of the Environmental Fair at Northern Michigan University Wednesday, put on by the NMU Student Environmental Science Organization.

As a part of a week's worth of Earth Day events, student and community environmental groups spoke on sustainability, renewable energy savings, and environmental ethics.

"We've got a lot of people representing different events and different movements in the area," said Zach Bartel, NMU Environmental Science Organization.

The Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service, and the Marquette Food Co-op were just a few of the organizations that shared their mission with students.
