MARQUETTE -- Now that the snow has melted, people in the U.P. are starting to take up their warmer weather hobbies.
Recently, crews from Enright Construction and Midway Rentals donated some of their time to help the Marquette BMX Club groom their tracks and prepare it for the upcoming season. The group is sanctioned by the American Bicycle Association.
They race Tuesday and Thursday nights at the track on Hawley Street in Marquette.
"What we're looking to do is we're fixing up the track, fixing the corners, kind of making some drainage areas, looking to redefine some of the obstacles. It's been a long time coming; we just want to fix it up, give it a fresh face look," said Shawn Labreche, Marquette BMX.
They will be hosting open houses at the track on the evenings of May 1 and 8 for any participants that want to sign up. All they ask is that you do not race on the track when it is wet or rainy.
