GREENWOOD LOCATION -- About 25 to 30 veterans from the Jacobetti Home feasted on wild Russian boar Tuesday afternoon at the Greenwood American Legion.

For the past four years, the U.P. Whitetail Association has sponsored a boar hunt for Jacobetti veterans.  This year's boar, shot by Paul Moilanen, weighed in at about 300 pounds and was the biggest one yet.

The veterans are grateful to the Whitetails for such a great experience.

"We've had a lot of people come in and they'll ask us, 'Can I go hunting?'  Ya know they been hunters all their lives; they can go hunting if they have the support of the U.P. Whitetails," said veteran Jack Ridings.

And roasting the big boar was a big undertaking.  Cooks said it took 14 hours to prepare.

Three quarters of the meat was slathered with barbeque sauce and the rest was rubbed with a dry rub.
