MARQUETTE -- Classes at Marquette Senior High School ended on a dark note Friday afternoon, but all for a good cause.
As part of the Lights Out Campaign, the school shut off all lights and computers for the last period of the day.
Members of the Environmental Science Club have been leading the campaign in the community and trying to spread awareness of conservation. They say it's important for their classmates to participate.
"Because it gives more of an awareness to all the kids because as people say, kids are the future so it's just a great way to get people to know about what's happening. I think as soon as we spread awareness through kids in our school, they'll bring it home to their parents and then hopefully families will participate," said Sara Linna, MSHS Environmental Club.
Everyone is encouraged to turn out their lights for Earth Hour Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.
