ESCANABA -- On Saturday, a Tea Party group gathered at the B.P. gas station in Escanaba to protest the proposed health care bill.  Participants say they want to let the public know how they feel about the recent push for health care reform.

The growing national debt is one of the biggest concerns protesters have about the bill.  Another concern is the possibility of private health insurance plans to cover abortions.

The health care debate brought people to the protest who have never before been politically active.

Protest organizer John Waltman said, "I've never been a political activist, I'm not an attorney or politician, but when I saw what was happening, I became involved in these Tea Party issues."

Members of the Tea Party say they're hopeful that Congressman Bart Stupak will oppose the bill.
