IRON MOUNTAIN -- Many Americans can expect to be a little more tired this Sunday morning because this weekend daylight savings takes effect.

We will be springing forward and losing an hour of sleep overnight Saturday into Sunday.  Sleep experts say losing that hour of sleep has very little effect on a person's sleep schedule as long as they still wake up at the same time everyday.

What affects people more is the extra light in the spring and summertime which can put you in a better mood.

"During the dark months of November, December, January, people usually sleep an hour more.  Most people, during the dark months, have a little bit of seasonal effective disorder--they're a little bit more tired, a little bit more sleepy," said Dr. Carl Smoot, U.P. Sleep Disorders Center.

Dr. Smoot said the best time to quit bad habits like smoking is in the summer months because it will have less of an affect on your mood.
