Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee does not want to be Michigan's next governor.

GENESEE -- Former downstate Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee does not want to be Michigan's next governor.

He has dropped out of the Democratic race.

Kildee said he had hoped to be "the candidate to unite the diverse interests that comprise the core," of the Democratic party.

He does not see that happening now.
