HARVEY -- A private school in Harvey is doing their part to contribute to the relief efforts in Haiti.
Crossroads Christian Academy has been collecting pop cans for the past month and receiving cash donations.
Originally they were hoping to collect at least $200, but they ended up collecting $1,088.
The collection ended a few weeks ago, and students say it has felt good helping the people of Haiti.
"Everything that we could get would be another smile or another piece of bread that somebody would be able to get and that we'd be able to help them," said Lydia Harman, fifth grader.
The money will go toward two organizations: Convoy of Hope and Samaritan's Purse.
