MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula's longtime reliance on mining is the subject of a newly released suspense novel by a U.P. author.

The story highlights the divide between business and environmentalists in the U.P. Frustration--and arson and murder--surface when an international mining company wants to construct an iron mine here
Cabell emphasizes that Money in the Ground is strictly a work of fiction, a product of his imagination.
"When I was in my twenties, I wanted to write, I wanted to be a writer, but I chickened out," explained Cabell. "Instead, I got into TV for a regular salary, but now as I get older, I want to get back into it."
Cabell is having a book signing Saturday at Snowbound Books in Marquette from 2-4 p.m.
