MARQUETTE -- The local Daughters of the American Revolution have made 18 fleece blankets for wounded soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. Monday, they packed them up and shipped them out.
Several members of the local Onagomingkway chapter gathered at Regent Melissa Wilson's home this afternoon to package the blankets of hope. They will be given to wounded soldiers on battlefields and in hospitals to provide them with comfort.

"Well, this is a project that we did, not just to get thank yous from the soldiers, but to offer them the possibility of having an envelopment of love and caring and support from people back home," said Melissa Wilson, Chapter Regent.
A post card is attached to each blanket of hope containing the maker's address so they can contact them when they are healed.
