The tournament was held to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
MARQUETTE -- Red may be the color of Valentine's Day, but it was all about pink for these hockey players Sunday afternoon.
The final day of the girls' Go Pink Hockey Tournament was held Sunday at the Berry Events Center. Central Michigan and Northern Michigan faced off in the open division class Sunday afternoon.
This is the first year the tournament has been held, and it was a great chance for the girls to show off their skills.
But that wasn't the only goal of Sunday; it was also a way to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
"As you notice, this year all of our girls that skate on the Marquette youth teams are wearing a pink sock on their right leg. One of the girl's moms came down with cancer and then a girl's grandma had breast cancer this year during the season, so in honor of that we decided to dedicate our season to raising funds to breast cancer awareness," said Marquette Junior Hockey Director Rod Riesland.
So far the teams have raised $350 for breast cancer awareness, but their efforts aren't over yet.
