MARQUETTE -- For college-bound high school seniors, it's not time for them to pack their bags just yet. But financial aid and a student's qualifications for it are important to determine before the new school year even starts.
College Goal Sunday happened at 30 universities around the state, including Northern Mihcigan University in Marquette. It was an opportunity for families to get assistance in filling out the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
"What families need to know is that you should be filing your FAFSA early, and this is a great opportunity to get their FAFSAs filed early, and so that financial aid offices around the country can start working on financial aid eligibility for students, especially new students that are going to school in the fall of 2010," said director of N.M.U. Financial Aid Mike Rotundo.
Rotundo also said that many of the people they help are new students, but that current students are also welcome to come in for help.
